Stylish Blogger Award!

So I am doing my post vacation blog catch up and while going through my comments realized I was nominated for the stylish blogger award three times by Life, Crafts, and Whatever, DeJa Renu, and 5 seconds from Crazy!!

Being a new blogger it was a such a great compliment.  Thanks so much to Jennifer, Debra, and Lesley for nominating me and if you haven't already checked their blogs out you should definitely pop over and take a look.

There are rules that go along with receiving the award.

1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this award.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Award 15 recently discovered great bloggers.
4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award!

So here goes...

1)  I have a huge crush on Jason Statham.

I don't know if it is the English accent ( like my husband) or that in every movie he is this rugged, take control, one man fighting machine but I can't get enough. I am not deterred at all by the fact that he has no hair and is on the shorter side.  My crush is no secret and my husband knows if a new movie comes out we will be going.  I don't think he minds though considering every movie with him is a action film.

2)  I hate earth worms and slugs.

It is even hard for me to post this pic.

I am not a squeamish person.  I have held tarantulas and been wrapped in a giant snake but on rainy days I have to will myself not to look down because I know "they" will be out.  I know it is ridiculous and that they can't hurt me and that they are good for the environment but it makes no difference, I hate them just the same.

3)  I used to be a Youth Counselor on a cruise ship.

It was the most fun I have ever had at work.  Imagine playing games and leading scavenger hunts with your friends and in your off time exploring the world.  I loved that time of my life.  I made best friends all over the world and met my husband. :)

4)  If I could have any job it would probably be an event planner.

I love to plan a party or get together.  I wouldn't want to work for a large business or corporation.  I love personal events like weddings, birthday, and baby showers.  I love all the little details that make them special. From the invites to the favors I am always on the look out for cute new ideas.

5)  I am obsessed with Bath and Body Works foaming hand soaps.

They are always next to every sink in my house.  I love trying all the new scents and have one shelf in my bathroom stocked with them.  On our recent vacation the hotel just had bar soap in the bathroom and both my husband and I were really looking forward to getting home to our soap.

6)  I wish I was a better cook.

Growing up my mom was a great cook.  She can recreate things from restaurants and make gourmet from things she just found in the fridge.  This is a skill I did not inherent from her.  Part of the problem is that I never cooked a thing, other than Kraft Macaroni and cheese, until I moved out on my own.  Now I can follow a recipe but I only buy cookbooks where there is a picture of every item showing you what it should look like when you're finished.  I am slowly getting better but it is definitely the area of my life where I am the most intimidated.

7)  I am a remote control killer.

I break remotes.  It is not intentional but for some reason remotes always meet their maker when I am around.  I drop them, I get them caught up in blankets and end up flinging them against walls, I have dropped them in sinks full of dishes, remotes can't survive for long around me.  My husband tries to set up designated spots that I have to return them to but he knows it is only a matter of time.  Thank goodness for the invention of the universal remote!

It was fun going through my followers to find new blogs to pass this award on to.  I know the rules say 15 but I was trying to find newer blogs that haven't received the award already.  Here are 8 fun reads to start and I will feature more on my blog as I come across them!

A quick Valentine post

All dressed up at Nana's house.

Just had to share our little Valentine!

I'm Back!

We are home from Antigua!  It was such a great vacation filled with sun and sand.  Getting that many days in a row to just enjoy my family was a wonderful luxury.  I had intended to do a little blogging while I was gone but the internet was painfully slow.  I could barely send an email, a whole post with pictures was impossible.  That is why unfortunately, other than the two I had set up to post before I left, I have been MIA.

I am really looking forward to catching up with everyones projects and will try to catch up on all your great comments as soon as I can.  My laundry pile is calling me, (isn't that the absolute worst part about coming home from vacation?) but I will leave you with a few fun pics from our trip.

Ice cream was a daily part of Pyper's vacation diet.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's day!

Potential and Possibilities # 5

Craigslist hidden treasures this week.

I love the lines of this hutch!  For $50 I would love to have it..if I only had the room...sigh.

I think a pop of color in the back would be really nice.

I love the color Young House Love used on their built ins!

Pair of wingbacks for $50.  They have a great shape.  Some new fabric would work wonders.

I would love to see this $49 dresser refinished in a distressed finish.

I like the size and weight of this wood frame, $15.  I would paint it and turn it into a chalkboard.  Perfect for a kitchen or office.

I hope these give you some ideas and inspire you to take a second look and see the potential.

Potential and Possibilities # 4

Here are some great finds that just need a little TLC to be fabulous!

This table and chairs is $95.  I love the marble top table.  The chairs could really pop in a fun color or pattern.

These Dining chairs are $40 for a set of four.  I think they would look great painted and with fresh upholstery similar to this set.

This bookcase is solid wood and $15.  I think with a paint job and some paper or fabric lining the back it could be great.

or turn it into a bar!

This white leather headboard is $50.  I would either add tufting or nail head trim.

I hope these give you some ideas and inspire you to take a second look and see the potential.

Another blog hop party!

I seriously had no idea these type of link parties existed until lately.  I am all packed and just killing time before we head for the airport, so what am I doing?  Blog reading of course!  Anyways I saw another fun blog hop party hosted by Survey Junkie.  There are a ton of blogs linked up.  I am looking forward to exploring and finding some more great inspiration!

I'm Leaving on a Jet Plane...

After months of planning the day has finally arrived!  Today we are heading off for 11 gorgeous days of beach lounging in Antigua!

I can't wait to shed my heavy coat and get my feet in the sand.

Blogging will be a little light while I'm away but I am sure you will hear from me a time or two.  Plus I can't stay away from seeing what all you are up to!  I have some projects in the works for my return that I can't wait to share with you.  I hope everyone has a great rest of the week and I will speak to you soon!

Wish us luck that the nearly 16 hours of airports and plane rides (one way) goes smoothly with our little Pyper in tow!  I am just hoping that they don't A) kick us off the plane, and B) that Pyper doesn't scream, cry, babble "sing" the entire red eye to Miami.  Don't you wish you were sitting next to us on the plane? :)

Take care everyone!
