Circle chair goes blue

I found this chair on Craigslist.

I LOVED the circle detail on the sides and for $30 I knew I needed it.  I even braved going out in the snow to get it which is a big deal because I hate driving in bad weather.  We don't get much snow here in Seattle so a little snow wreaks havoc on our hilly streets.
The chair had a few scratches and tiny chips on it but they were easily fixed with a little wood filler and sanding.  Sorry no pics during the process.  Being new to blogging I am going to need to remember to permanently attach my camera to my hand.  Up until this project I have always gone really safe with my furniture paint colors.  White, cream, black and brown have been my colors of choice.  I love seeing bright and vibrant colors in others home so I need to start pushing outside my comfort zone in my own home.  I recently reupholstered a small sofa in a pretty blue (post to come) so I decided to paint the chair in a coordinating blue tone.  Not a wild color step but at least it counts as an actual color and not a neutral. The fabric is Dwell Studios Cameo Ovals.  I purchased just under a yard in the remnant bin at Joann fabrics for less than $10!  For the upholstery I used my two favorite guns...
No, not those guns Mrs. First Lady...well not just those.

My staple and glue gun, the most used tools in my crafty arsenal.
I really like the way the circles in the fabric go with the circle detail on the chair.  I chose not to tuft the back like it was originally because I didn't want to distort the fabric.  Also I think keeping it smooth gives it a more updated look.  Overall I really like the way the chair turned out.  Even though it is blue I think it still acts like a neutral in the room.  I like that I can change the pillow or throw on it and give it a different personality when I feel like it, which I know will be often.  I am not sure where it will end up in my house but right now I am really enjoying that it greets people when they come into my home.
sorry, terrible night time lighting
I know, flash, yuck

Up next is the chair I got for FREE from the same person who was selling this chair!
