Seattle Wedding Show 2011

Today I tagged along with a friend who works in the wedding industry to check out the Seattle Wedding Show.  Even though I am not planning a wedding it was really fun to see all the gorgeous tablescapes and arrangements. I was a floral designer in my past life before mommyhood so I was especially drawn to all the gorgeous flowers. While a ton of the displays were massive and over the top ( meaning really expensive to recreate) some of them would be fun and easy to translate to a party.

I thought these birch looking vases were so cute.  These were actual vases but I have seen a product on a roll that looked similar.  You could also wrap vases in a wood grain or similar paper.  So fun for an outdoor party.

I thought these cupcakes were embellished in a really cute and easy way.  These had the edges rolled in white chocolate but you could do it with fun colored sugars or sprinkles.  Also I was chatting with the baker and she said they sell just the sugar flowers for pretty reasonable prices.  I have also seen just the sugared embellishments sold on etsy.  Much cheaper than paying a fancy bakery to make them all for you.

This table setting was gorgeous in rich purple and teal tones.  The napkin holder is just a silk flower with the edges glittered, add a feather, hot glued to ribbon. Sooo easy.  Also the pop of pattern on the plate is just a circle cut out of scrapbook paper.  I'm going to be stealing this idea someday soon for sure.

This was like one of those edible arrangements on steroids!  Seriously I can't even begin to describe how HUGE this was.  I thought it would make a great centerpiece, on a much smaller scale of course.

This tablescape looks elaborate but as a floral designer I can tell you it would be really easy and more importantly really inexpensive to recreate.  Basically take branches from the yard and place at random moss balls, a couple pincushions(tropical flower), and some orchids.  The cylinders are filled with spanish moss (cheap!!) and a couple hanging orchids.  The mass of white was carnations in oasis foam. Just rest the floral dishes on top of the cylinder vases.  Sounds kinda complicated because I have not yet mastered the art of a tutorial, but trust me when I say big impact, tiny budget.

I loved everything about this table but my favorites were putting the arrangement in an old wood box and using the orange as a place card holder, too cute.

This amazing 15ft tall silver crystal and orchid covered tree I had to share mainly because I was shocked at which vendors booth I found it at...wait for it....SAFEWAY!!  Really makes me reconsider my local grocer florist.

Just because I loved these smoke acrylic chiavari chairs.

And finally no trip to a wedding show would be complete without at least one gorgeous wedding gown, so here you go!

Such a fun day filled with so much inspiration.  Do you think I can convince my husband we can be like Seal and Heidi Klum and renew our vows every year?  A girl can dream.
